Flappy Bird has been one of the most popular mobile games of the last few weeks. Millions of people have downloaded it, on iOS and Android, and those same millions of people have been frustrated by it.

In essence, the game requires the player to “flap” the bird up and down, through green pipes. It requires momentum and concentration, which is why it is so difficult.

As expected, the game went viral, but there was only one developer behind the wheel. His name is Dong Nguyen, who goes by @Dongatory on Twitter.

Mr Nguyen yesterday tweeted the following:

We can confirm that the game Flappy Bird has indeed been removed from both the iOS App Store and the Android Google Play Store.

Who knows if Flappy Bird will make a return? It’s possible, but unlikely. The App Store is littered with clones already anyway.
